DVIF&G;'s Offers New START Programs for Successful Pregnancies
At DVIF&G; we always strive to fulfill the patient’s expectations. We understand that children and family are what turns a dream to a reality. We recognize the sensitivities that are involved in this delicate process, and we have acknowledged that time and resources are precious.
Since its inception, DVIF&G; has strived for excellence by providing exceptional programs such as START (Success Through Assisted Reproductive Technologies) that has achieved pregnancy rates far exceeding that of the national average (intrauterine inseminations 21 percent per attempt, in vitro fertilization 56.5 percent per transfer), Dr. Chung H. Wu’s program for prevention, early detection and treatment of Polycystic Ovarian Syndomr (PCOS) that has so far successfully treated over 2,000 women suffering from this common condition, and Dr. David R. Corley’s program for diagnosis and prevention of early pregnancy loss.
IVM, oocyte cryopreservation, and PGD are new treatments now available to patients through our START program.
In Vitro Maturation, IVM, is a new technique, similar to IVF, being offered to PCOS patients or patients with a history of hyperstimulation with gonadotropins. It is a shorter course of medication, resulting in minimal risks and reduced costs.
More than 300 children have been delivered through IVM. The health and development of children born through the IVM procedure are no different than those encountered during the established and accepted IVF-ET procedure.
For patients of advanced reproductive age who may have a known genetic abnormality, PGD offers a way to screen the embryos produced during IVF. At the third day of development, a single cell is removed from the embryo for genetic analysis. By this screening, abnormal embryos may be identified and only healthy embryos are transferred, thus increasing the chance for the success with a healthy child.
Finally, Oocyte Cryopreservation, or egg freezing, is a new service that the START program is offering for patients faced with treatment, such as chemotherapy or radiation therapy, as a means for fertility preservation. If this is a service that you would benefit from, please make an appointment for a consultation with either Dr. Taliadouros or Dr. Corley. The phone number is (856) 988-0072.
